What we collect

• Enquiry details. When you use our contact form we collect the name, email address, subject and message you provide. If you call or email us directly, we hold whatever you choose to share in that correspondence.
• Website usage data. Pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, the site or search engine you arrived from, and general device and browser information. This is collected through our analytics tooling described below.

We do not ask for special category data, and we do not collect payment details through this website.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To respond to your enquiry and quote for work — our lawful basis is taking steps at your request prior to entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it — our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving our website.

Who your data is shared with

We do not sell your personal data. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Google (Google Forms). Our contact form submits through Google Forms, so enquiry details are processed and stored by Google.
• Microsoft 365. Our business email, where enquiries are received and replied to.
• Clkly. Our website analytics, which records the usage data described above and links it to an anonymous visitor record. If you submit an enquiry, your name and email may be associated with that record so we can see the history of your visit alongside your enquiry.
• Vercel. Our website hosting provider, which processes server logs.

We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law.

Cookies and analytics

Our analytics tool stores a small identifier in your browser so that repeat visits are recognised as the same visitor. It respects browser “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals — if either is enabled, nothing is recorded. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and related correspondence are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for our ordinary business records afterwards. Website analytics data is retained on a rolling basis and removed automatically once it ages out.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to request a copy of your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to erase it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to data portability where it applies. To exercise any of these, email info@jandnsteelcraft.co.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
