Steel Gates & Railings
Bespoke steel gates, railings and fencing - secure, durable and made to measure for commercial, industrial and residential sites.
We fabricate steel gates, railings and fencing to suit security, boundary and access needs. From swing and sliding gates to palisade, bar-infill and decorative railings, every item is made to measure for the opening and finish you need.
Gates
- Swing gates — single or double leaf, for pedestrian and vehicle entrances.
- Sliding and cantilever gates — for wide openings or where there's no room for a gate to swing.
- Pedestrian gates — matching side gates, with self-closers and locks.
- Decorative gates — for homes, estates and public spaces, made to your design.
- Security gates — heavier sections and anti-climb tops. See security gates and grilles.
Gates can be made for manual or automated operation, and all steelwork can be galvanised and powder-coated for a hard-wearing outdoor finish in the colour of your choice.
Railings and fencing
- Bar-infill railings — vertical bars between top and bottom rails, the classic boundary railing.
- Decorative railings — with finials, scrolls or laser-cut panels, to suit period properties and public spaces.
- Palisade fencing — steel pales for industrial and commercial perimeters.
- Mesh panel fencing — welded mesh for schools, sports areas and commercial sites.
- Balcony and stair railings — see handrails and guardrails.
Automation
If a gate is to be automated, it has to be designed for it from the start: the right hinges or track, a frame stiff enough for the motor, and space for the safety equipment. We build gates ready for your automation installer to fit the motors, controls and safety edges, so the whole system can be commissioned safely.
Finishes
For a long outdoor life, gates and railings are hot-dip galvanised and then powder coated. Galvanising protects the steel from rust inside and out, and the powder coat gives a hard-wearing colour finish, usually black, green or a RAL colour to match the building.
How it works
We survey, fabricate and install, so gates hang true and railings line through - built to last in everyday use.
- Survey — we measure the openings, levels and ground conditions.
- Design — the style, height and fixings, with drawings for approval.
- Fabrication — in our Peterlee workshop.
- Finishing — galvanising and powder coating.
- Installation — posts set in concrete or bolted down, gates hung and adjusted on site.
Frequently asked questions
Galvanised or just painted? Galvanised and powder coated. Paint alone on bare steel will rust within a few years outdoors.
Can you match existing railings? Usually, yes. We can copy the bar spacing, rails and finials of existing railings so new sections match.
Do I need planning permission for gates? Sometimes. Gates and railings over a certain height next to a road, or on listed buildings and in conservation areas, may need permission. Check with your local planning authority.
Do you work for schools and businesses? Yes, as well as homeowners. Tell us what you need.
